These have been very enjoyable to paint, and I have added this idea to the new workshops I plan to offer. One of the paintings was created specifically as a gift and I've incorporated various elements into it that I know the person loves. I've also painted it in her favourite colours. I think I cracked it because the person I created it for said 'it's so beautiful it makes me cry'! That was just when I sent her a photo, before she knew it was a present. I couldn't have expected a more positive reaction. The most thoughtful gifts always make the recipients cry with emotion! I hope you enjoy this series and if you're interested in purchasing or commissioning a painting, or in doing a workshop with me, then please do get in touch.
The first of the paintings in the series is based around an oriental spiritual theme with the Buddha, Mandala, Japanese anemones with a hint of cherry blossom, but it also has a suggestion of high rise buildings and communications and that's why it's called 'Culture Clash'. The second one is a variation on the theme using different colours and textures with a slight difference in arrangement. The third painting is called East meets East and depicts symbols of a simpler life before the age of high rise buildings and world wide communications.
The last painting is not a part of the series but is the special bespoke gift I referred to earlier. It's titled 'My special place'. The person it was designed for loves meditation and yoga, hence the reason for using the Buddha and Mandala. They are passionate about flowers and their garden, as well as loving butterflies and birds. They specifically want to attract Monarch butterflies into their garden so I've included them. They always sign off their communications with the words 'Love and Light', so that's also there and in the two 'L's of love and light the number 11 is hidden which is their lucky number.
